Benjamin Franklin Gates (
Nicolas Cage) is the keeper of the Gates family legend: That somewhere in the US, the Founding Fathers hid a treasure trove of famous artifacts and gold. The map to the stashed fortune is encrypted on the back of the Declaration of Independence and it's up to Gates and his friends to get to it first, before his enemies do.

In "
National Treasure: Book of Secrets," Gates (Cage) finds himself butting heads with a man
who claims that he has diary pages showing that Gates' great, great grandfather was involved in Lincoln's assassination. In his quest to prove his ancestor's innocence, Gates discovers there is a fabled Book of Secrets, containing answers to history's biggest conspiracy theories and a map to a city of gold. The person supposedly in possession of the book is none other than the President of the United States.
