Variety writes that ABC just gave a put pilot order to a new anthology series based on Tom Hanks' 1984 comedy film BACHELOR PARTY.

The series will "examine relationships and the institution of marriage through the lens of three couples: one about to get married, another recently divorced and a third just falling in love. They will experience the trial-by-fire that is the modern day, co-ed bachelor/bachelorette extravaganza."
Created by co-executive producers JJ Philbin and Josh Malmuth, BACHELOR PARTY will be directed by Jason Winer and Max Winkler, with Winer set to helm the pilot episode. Winer, Winkler, Jake Johnson, Renate Radford and Mary Lee will also produce.
Hanks appeared in BACHELOR PARTY near the start of his career; it was soon followed by 1988's Big (which is also heading to the small screen), and Sleepless in Seattle and Philadelphia in 1993.
The actor's upcoming big screen projects include A Hologram for the King and The Lost Symbol. He recently starred in Saving Mr. Banks, Captain Phillips, Cloud Atlas, Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close and Toy Story 3. He won both a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for his roles in Philadelphia and Forrest Gump. Hanks made his Broadway debut last year in Nora Ephron's Lucky Guy.
