ABC has begun developing an Americanized version of the 2012 Spanish medical drama FRAGILES, according to Deadline. Thompson Evan will pen the script and executive produce alongside REVENGE's Bob Sertner.

The drama, set in a trauma unit, will follow a "highly regarded, eccentric trauma surgeon who has near death experience, after which he decides to put down his scalpel and treat patients' physical challenges by making them confront their emotional ones."

The original Spanish series is officially described as: "Pablo Morillas (Santi Millán) is a renowned physical therapist who uses unconventional methods to cure his patients. His belief that all physical pain stems from an emotional issue, leads him to establish a unique connection with each patient, trying to understand them in order to reach the real root of their pain. As Pablo helps every patient deal with their inner struggles, his own emotional pain will often surface as he tries to deal with the aftermath of an unexpected event that has left him broken."

FRAGILES is currently available to view on Hulu.
