ABC Begins Development on Shonda Rhimes and KJ Steinberg's Legal Drama LAWLESS

According to Deadline.com, ABC has purchased LAWLESS, a legal drama from Grey's Anatomy and Scandal creator Shonda Rhimes' Shondaland and Mistresses' writer and producer KJ Steinberg.

LAWLESS follows Joanna James, a lawyer who returns to her hometown to "right the wrongs she left behind".

The story is inspired by the true story of lawyer and Have Justice Will Travel founder Wynona Ward. Ward's organization provides free legal representation to victims of domestic violence in rural areas.

Rhimes and Steinberg previously worked together on The Nine, as well as Gilded Lilys.
