Saturday's broadcast featured an encore of Susan Spencer and 48 HOURS' updated investigation into the murder of a World War II hero Walter Patterson and the global chase for his killer, George Wright. It's a story of a multi-agency manhunt that spans five decades, three continents, and includes an airplane hijacking, a $1 million ransom and an FBI agent standing on the tarmac at the Miami International Airport wearing nothing but a swimsuit.
Wright and another man were convicted for the 1962 murder of Patterson, who was beaten and shot during a robbery at his New Jersey gas station. But eight years later, Wright busted out of jail. Two years after that, Wright dressed up as a priest and hid a gun in a Bible to join others as part of an airplane hijacking. The group got a $1 million ransom, and Wright was on the run for four decades until he was found living in another country. So far, authorities have been unable to capture him.
