Tom Hanks won consecutive Oscars in 1993 and 1994 for his leading performances in "Philadelphia" and "Forrest Gump." He also has been nominated for his leading roles in "Big," "Saving Private Ryan" and "Cast Away." Hanks recently lent his voice to the character Woody in the Best Picture nominee "Toy Story 3." He will be seen next in "Larry Crowne," on which he also served as director, co-writer and producer. His other film credits include "Charlie Wilson's War," "The Da Vinci Code," "The Terminal," "Catch Me If You Can," "Road to Perdition," "Apollo 13" and "A League of Their Own."
His next TV role, according to Deadline.com, will be on the hit NBC show "30 Rock". Though details of his role have yet to be released, an appearance by Hanks marks yet another in the slew of A-list guest stars who have appeared on the show.
Stars who have made appearances range from theatre favorites (Nathan Lane, Cheyenne Jackson, and Elaine Stritch, for example) to singers (Jon Bon Jovi, Mary J. Blige, Elvis Costello), to movie stars (Matt Damon, James Franco, Robert De Niro).
30 Rock is a television comedy series created by Tina Fey that airs on NBC. The series is loosely based on Fey's experiences as head writer for Saturday Night Live. 30 Rock takes place behind the scenes of a fictional live sketch comedy series depicted as airing on NBC; the name "30 Rock" refers to the address of the GE Building where NBC Studios is located, 30 Rockefeller Plaza. This series is produced by Broadway Video and Little Stranger, Inc., in association with NBC Universal.
