Just one week after police tracked down country star Mindy McCready, accused of kidnapping her five-year-old son, Zander, the country music star tells her side of the story exclusively to ABC News.

On November 29, McCready, who does not have custody of her son, took him and fled to Arkansas during a visit with him. For the first time, McCready will reveal why she felt her son was in danger and the reasons behind the extraordinary lengths she took to keep him in her custody. She will also detail the dramatic moments when she and her son were discovered by police. The troubled star, now pregnant with twins, also explains the cryptic messages she sent early this week hinting that a judge found in her favor at a hearing in Arkansas. Andrea Canning report airs on "20/20," FRIDAY, DECEMBER 9 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Also on tonight's show, why are there virtually no women in an entire Indian village? There are some families in India who will do almost anything to get a boy and almost anything else to get rid of a girl -- an estimated one million girls are "missing" every year. Also shocking is that India is a nation complacent even though its female president calls it a shame. Why is this happening? What is really going on? "20/20" goes inside ultrasound clinics that are illegally revealing the sex of the babies to parents-to-be, travels to a village with almost no women, and also talks to pioneers who are trying to make a change and save India's disappearing daughters. Elizabeth Vargas investigates India's deadly secret and alarming gender gap.

Plus: We are a culture obsessed with hair. From the big and small screens to the pages of fashion magazines, it seems no woman's look is complete without a perfectly-coiffed 'do - and that poses a serious hurdle for former hair model Georgia Van Cuylenburg, because now she is bald. Like five million other people in the U.S., Van Cuylenburg suffers from Alopecia, an autoimmune disease that attacks the hair follicles. Devastated by her hair loss, she began filming her most vulnerable moments that would later become a documentary. Elizabeth Vargas reports.

"20/20" previews "The Year with Katie Couric," a two-hour special on Dec.15 on the best and worst of 2011, including The Year in Film, with interviews with Kristen Wiig and Chelsea Handler and a sneak-peak at "Barbara Walters Presents the 10 Most Fascinating People of 2011," which airs December 14.

"20/20" is anchored by Elizabeth Vargas and Chris Cuomo. David Sloan is executive producer.
