2015 Catalina Film Fest Set for This Weekend

Catalina Film Festival (CFF) announces additional honorees for the September 24 - 27 festival, held on the famed Catalina Island. 2015 Catalina Film Festival attending honorees include:
- F. Gary Gray (Straight Outta Compton, The Italian Job, Friday) - Stanley Kramer Social Artist Award (Friday). The award honors a film professional whose work embodies Stanley Kramer's qualities of social consciousness within their artistry while taking risks to create and influence a social transformation. Past recipients include Sharon Stone, William H. Macy.
- Diane Warren (With over 100 songs featured in motion pictures, Warren has worked with music superstars including Lady Gaga, Adele, Elton John, Kelly Clarkson) - Inaugural Soundtrack of Our Lives Award (Saturday)
- Mena Suvari (American Beauty, American Pie) - Avalon Award (Saturday)
- Kristin Davis (Sex & the City, Gardeners of Eden, Couples Retreat) - Conservation Activist Award (Sunday)
- Wes Craven Tribute - A touching tribute to the late Wes Craven - a supporter of Catalina Film Festival, who graciously founded the annual Craven Award for excellence in horror filmmaking, and personally selected the winning films - will include the Craven family, Robert Englund (Freddy Krueger in A Nightmare on Elm Street), Amanda Wyss (A Nightmare on Elm Street, Better Off Dead), and more. The Festival will also distribute the annual Craven Award that Craven chose only days before his passing. (Saturday)
- Lucas Till (X-Men: Apocalypse, Bravetown) - Crest Award (Saturday)
- Billy Zane (Titanic, The Phantom, Twin Peaks) - Maverick Award (Friday)
Recent honorees include Nicolas Cage, Andy Garcia, William H. Macy, Jon Favreau, Sharon Stone, Kate Bosworth, Stan Lee, and more.
The Festival will also feature 26 premieres, including the West Coast premieres of The Benefactor (starring Theo James, Richard Gere, and Dakota Fanning); Car Dogs (with Patrick J. Adams, George Lopez, Octavia Spencer); Moments of Clarity (with Marguerite Moreau, Lyndsy Fonseca, and Eric Roberts); Jack of the Red Hearts (with AnnaSophia Robb and Famke Janssen); Project Greenlight Short Film - Day One; The Preppie Connection; and the North American premiere of Battalion.
The competitive fest and film market also features the Catalina TV and New Media Summit; Mercedes Benz Music Stage; Blackmagic Catalina Treasure Hunt ($5000 in prizes hidden throughout the island); Stella Artois Beer Garden; Horseshoe Bend Vineyards Catalina Filming Wine Mixer; and Boxcast Live-Stream Lancer Auditorium.
