Tia Maggini Joins Lifetime as VP, Original Movies

Tia Maggini has been named Vice President, Original Movies, of Lifetime, it was announced today by Tanya Lopez, the network's Senior Vice President, Original Movies. Based in Los Angeles, Maggini will report directly to Lopez and be responsible for the development and production of Lifetime Original Movies.

Regarding the announcement, Lopez said, "I am delighted to have Tia join our team. She brings experience and relationships, along with a fantastic attitude that will only help our department grow even stronger than it already is."

Most recently, Maggini was Vice President of Television for Josephson Entertainment in Los Angeles, where she was responsible for managing all areas of television development on behalf of the company, including AMC's Turn. From 2006 to 2011, she was Senior Executive for Marc Platt Productions. Maggini served as a Creative Executive/Story Editor for Red Wagon Entertainment between 2003 and 2006. While there, she was the primary story executive for director Rob Marshall's Memoirs of a Geisha and Sam Mendes' Jarhead. She joined Red Wagon from CAA, where she was an assistant. Maggini began her career in publishing, in which she held numerous positions, including Editor, for such houses as HarperCollins, ReganBooks and Avon Books. She graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Dartmouth College.

Ad-supported cable's number one destination for original movies among the key demographics, including Total Viewers and Total Females, Lifetime's movies Flowers in the Attic, Lizzie Borden Took an Ax, Petals on the Wind and The Gabby Douglas Story are this year's top four movie telecasts across ad-supported cable. Upcoming films include Deliverance Creek, from executive producer Nicholas Sparks; Big Driver, based on the Stephen King novella and headlined by Maria Bello, Olympia Dukakis and Joan Jett; Whitney Houston (wt), directed by Angela Bassett and starring Yaya DaCosta; Aaliyah: Princess of R&B (wt), with Alexandra Shipp; and the miniseries event The Red Tent, based on Anita Diamant's best-selling novel and starring Minnie Driver, Morena Baccarin, Rebecca Ferguson, Iain Glen and Debra Winger.
