New HBO Intro to Air and Stream before Saturday Night Theatrical Premieres

While HBO is most widely-known for its acclaimed and award-winning original programming, viewers turn out in droves to check out the latest and greatest new movies and classics worth re-watching. To celebrate its decades-long standing as the best destination for theatrical films, HBO is putting a fresh spin on its very-'80s Feature Presentation intro, celebrating an iconic piece of HBO history with a modern twist.

While the original intro focused on one family, nestled into their living room to watch a movie on HBO, and zoomed out across the world around them, the new intro zooms through a city full of homes with people watching HBO on a variety of devices, highlighting all the ways people can now watch movies on HBO.

The original HBO Feature Presentation intro has undergone several facelifts over the course of HBO's history, while maintaining a legendary status among viewers. The 1980s intro still plays before the feature presentation each week during the HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival, prompting the lawn full of picnicking viewers to get on their feet and dance with excitement as one of their favorite movies gets ready to play.

The new HBO Feature Presentation intro will debut Saturday night ahead of the HBO premiere of X-Men: Apocalypse, and will air and stream before all Saturday Night Theatricals moving forward. Upcoming theatrical highlights for 2017 include the recent Oscar® nominee Hacksaw Ridge, Suicide Squad, Jason Bourne, Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, Ice Age: Collision Course, Independence Day: Resurgence, Victor Frankenstein andWar Dogs, which will soon join a variety of high-profile theatricals like The Revenant, Joy, The Boss, Central Intelligence, Hail, Caesar!, Keanu, The Legend of Tarzan and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, all of which are available to stream now via HBO NOW and HBO GO. All month long, HBO will be celebrating the great movies on the service with a promotional stunt on HBO GO and HBO NOW that will rotate weekly and highlight the biggest and latest movies

Thanks to exclusive distribution deals with Warner Bros., 20th Century Fox, Universal Pictures and Summit Entertainment, HBO continues to be the home of more of the best movies among streaming and premium networks. In 2016, theatrical films accounted for 72% of HBO's total viewing across all platforms, with more than 90% of HBO viewers watching a movie in a given month.
