Miami Symphony Orchestra Composes Soundtrack for TV Series Telemundo's LA REINA DEL SUR Image

For the first time ever, the Miami Symphony Orchestra records a soundtrack for a television series, Telemundo's much anticipated "La Reina del Sur" Season Two, which premieres Monday, April 22 at 10pm/9C. This musical collaboration marks yet another historic milestone as the network continues to raise the bar in the production of premium video content for US Hispanics.

The creation of the soundtrack is the result of the partnership between Eduardo Marturet, Music Director and Conductor of the Miami Symphony Orchestra, and Latin Grammy nominated composer and musician, Alberto Slezynger, working together with Marcos Santana, President of Telemundo Global Studios, who is also Showrunner and Executive Producer of the series. The music score was created by Alberto Slezynger and his team at Personal Music, exclusively to accompany the series' diverse storylines, from the romance to the suspense to the fast-paced ACTION and was interpreted by a complete symphony orchestra of over 50 musicians, conducted by the world class director Eduardo Marturet.

"The future is moving toward music created in labs and in-studio, causing it to be appear artificial ...when we have the symphony, aside from creating a fabulous sound, we get a product produced by human beings as it happens on a scene or on set. We don't have robots, we have real people," said Marturet. "For us, it is a privilege to be part of a project where we will be able to hear ourselves making music for so many wonderful emotions".

"This musical composition is one of the most important collaborations we've ever done, and it is the first time we've ever produced a musical score for the Hispanic Market together with a live symphony orchestra. The idea was to produce the music using the highest Hollywood standards," commented Slezynger.

"Working with Eduardo Marturet is a great pleasure and honor," added Santana. "For many years, Eduardo had asked to take this step and have the orchestra create music for one of our series. The time has come. La Reina del Sur has the right caliber and dimension to match the significance of the Miami Symphony Orchestra."

Shot on location in eight countries, the return of "La Reina del Sur" is set eight years since powerful drug trafficker Teresa Mendoza disappeared into the U.S. Federal Witness Protection Program after bringing down Mexican presidential candidate Epifanio Vargas. Hers is now a life of total anonymity in Italy as "Maria Dantes," peacefully raising her daughter Sofia in the Tuscan village of Massa Marittima. However, her life takes an unexpected turn and she will do the impossible to reclaim her throne as La Reina del Sur.

Created by Arturo Pérez-Reverte, "La Reina del Sur" Season 2 is written by Roberto Stopello, Juan Marcos Blanco, Miguel Ferrari, and Jose Miguel Nuñez. Marcos Santana is Executive Producer and Showrunner of the series, with Telemundo's Martha Godoy and AG Studios' Rodrigo Guerrero as Executive Producers. "La Reina del Sur" Season 2 is a co-production between Telemundo Global Studios and Netflix. Telemundo has the exclusive rights in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, and Netflix has the exclusive rights for the rest of the world for OTT.
