Directors Guild of America President Thomas Schlamme today announced that Aisha Tyler will host the 71st Annual DGA Awards which will take place on February 2, 2019 at the Hollywood & Highland Center's Ray Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood.

"We're excited to have Aisha on board for the 71st Annual DGA Awards," said Schlamme. "She is ideally suited to host our special evening celebrating filmmaking. Not only is Aisha a talented comedian who has engaged and entertained audiences across platforms, she is a rising star behind the camera who has a deep understanding of what it takes for directors to bring their projects to life. Welcome Aisha."

Aisha Tyler is an award-winning director, actor, comedian, bestselling author, podcaster and activist. She voices superspy Lana Kane on FX's Emmy-winning hit animated comedy Archer, the winner of four back-to-back Television Critics' Choice Awards. She is a series regular on the long-running hit CBS show Criminal Minds, for which she recently directed episodes. She also continues to host the CW's hit improv show, Whose Line Is It Anyway?

Aisha was a co-host for seven seasons of CBS's Emmy-winning daytime show The Talk, which she departed in September 2017 to focus more on acting and directing. She also led her own nighttime talk show in 2018, AMC's Unapologetic, which featured discussion of female-centric issues raised by the current political climate. She is well-remembered for her character arc on Friends, and was the first African-American to have a long-standing role on the show. Her feature film directing debut, the thriller AXIS, premiered in 2017, and won the Outstanding Achievement in Feature Filmmaking award at the 2017 Newport Beach Film Festival. Currently, she is attached to direct the new female-led action thriller, Vigilante, written and produced by Irwin Winkler.

A San Francisco native, Ms. Tyler graduated from Dartmouth College with a degree in Government and Environmental Policy. An avid gamer, Aisha's voice can be heard in the video games Halo:Reach; Gears of War 3, and Watch Dogs. Aisha is a bourbon and hard rock fan, a snowboarder and a sci-fi obsessive. She is launching a line of bottled cocktails she created, Courage+Stone, in Spring 2019.
