Victorian Opera is partnering with RACV to present a free concert and pop-up costume stall during RACV Australia Day Picnic and Federation Vehicle Display 2014.

Performing as part of the annual RACV Australia Day Picnic and Foundation Vehicle Display, Victorian Opera artists will be singing breathtaking opera from composers such as Puccini and Verdi.

A 'pop-up' costume department will also be set up for picnickers of all ages to take on the personas of their favourite characters including the King and Queen from Sleeping Beauty and the princess from Cinderella.

"The joy of opera is that it is a complete theatrical package,' said Andrew Snell, Managing Director of Victorian Opera.

"Beautiful singing is just one part of the experience; so much time and detail goes on behind the scenes to make elaborate sets and believable wardrobes for characters.

"We're excited to share an insight into another aspect of the company's work, and give people rare access to a few of our favourite wardrobe items for some dress-up fun."

RACV will be hosting a range of other activities throughout the day across the Kings Domain, including vintage vehicle displays, dog shows and food stalls.
