A Verdi classic returns to the Met with an excellent cast led by Marcello Giordani, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Ferruccio Furlanetto, and rising star Angela Meade in her first Met leading role. ERNANI will be broadcast at Middlebury's Town Hall Theater as part of the Met's "Live in HD" series.
American soprano Angela Meade, whose rise to fame was chronicled in the 2008 documentary, The Audition, steps into the spotlight as Elvira, a noblewoman pursued by three men. Meade, recent the recipient of the prestigious Beverly Sills Artist Award for young singers at the Metropolitan Opera(as previously reported by BroadwayWorld.com), is making her first Live in HD appearance.
Italian tenor Marcello Giordani, who starred in the Live in HD transmissions of La Damnation de Faust, La Fanciulla del West, Madama Butterfly, Manon Lescaut, Simon Boccanegra, and Turandot, sings the title role of Ernani, an honorable bandit in love with Elvira.
