In the 2014-2015 Season, Toronto Operetta Theatre celebrates its Thirtieth Anniversary, a historic milestone for this unique company devoted to music theatre in all its incarnations. "No one would have prophesied the longevity of TOT when we began all those years ago" says General Director Silva-Marin. "Our inaugural production of Lehar's THE COUNT OF LUXEMBOURG was a landmark for operetta and musical theatre in the GTA and 30 years later, we look back - and forward! - to a wealth of musical entertainment enjoyed by all segments of our society". TOT salutes the future with repertoire that embraces the progressive face of our city, celebrated with masterpieces from the Spanish world, the United Kingdom and Canada.

The season opens on November 2, 2014 with another Canadian Premiere...this time Federico Chueca's zarzuela LA GRAN VIA starring a who's-who of Canadian talent with Spanish and Latin American heritages including Margie Bernal, Fabian Arciniegas, Pablo Benitez andDiego Catala, with Jose Hernandez as Music Director. The work premiered in Madrid on July 2, 1886 and gives vivid life to one of the most exciting and vibrant avenues in the world.

TOT's Holiday Production will be MIKADO, a landmark in the English light opera genre by the masters Gilbert & Sullivan featuring Lucia Cesaroni, Mia Lennox, David Ludwig and Giles Tomkins with Derek Bate as conductor. And be warned...! There are always timely additions to the list of those 'who never would be missed'! Six performances are planned from Dec. 27 - Jan 4, 2015.

The 30thseason closes with EARNEST, THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING by Victor Davies and Eugene Benson. A Canadian operetta, the work premiered in 2008 under the auspices of the Toronto Operetta Theatre. The work is based on Wilde's play and remains the only known example of a contemporary Canadian musical based on the classical operetta format. Our production stars Jean Stilwell as the formidable Lady Bracknell and will be conducted by Larry Beckwith.

TOT has also been a champion of Canadian talent and provides both emerging and established performers with opportunities to hone their stage skills and develop the wide range of tools necessary for the lyric theatre. Company Founder and continuing leader, Guillermo Silva-Marin, will direct all three shows.
