The Pikes Peak Opera League Announces Fifth Annual Gala Event, Today

The Pikes Peak Opera League is excited to present its fifth annual Gala Event on February 12 at the Antlers Hotel to benefit Opera Theatre of the Rockies. This special evening begins with a Social Hour and a Silent Auction including such items as an Elegant Gatsby Summer Garden Party for 20, a three-day Bed and Breakfast Getaway in lovely Cascade, Zipline Adventures, Vintage Jewelry and a golf package at the Club at Flying Horse. Highlights of the evening's music program to be presented after dinner include singers Stephanie Brink, Amalia Dobbins, Amy Mushall and Solveig Olsen along with Humberto Borboa and Malcolm Ulbrick offering arias and musical theater excerpts from Egypt, India, Greece, Algeria, China and Japan. Daniel Brink will be at the piano. The concert reflects the theme of the Gala, "A Magic Carpet Ride to Exotic Locales."

The Pikes Peak Opera League is now in its 37th year, supporting both opera and music theater singers across the Region. There are over 100 members who participate in monthly meetings and fundraising event year-round, This Gala Evening is its largest signature event to help guarantee that opera thrives in southern Colorado. The "Magic Carpet Ride Evening" begins at 5:30 pm on Friday, February 12 with a social hour and silent auction, followed by a sit-down dinner and the concert. There are still tickets remaining. Cost is $70 per person with $35 tax-deductible. Be transported to foreign lands and register to join us by calling event co-chair, Lu Benning at 667-0603. Deadline is Monday, February 8 so act now. The featured opera February Gala Evening has become very popular, having been sold out each year. So, please get your tickets soon. It is sure to be a crowd pleaser.
