The MidAtlantic Opera, a new opera company dedicated to presenting the finest operatic performances and productions to audiences throughout the mid-Atlantic region, will present its 2013-14 season opener, Verdiana, at the Great Auditorium in Ocean Grove, NJ on Saturday, September 21 at 7:30 PM. Renowned soloists Sharon Azrieli Perez, Christina Major, Sara Murphy, Ronald Naldi, Jordan Shanahan, and Jeremy Galyon will perform arias and ensembles by the great operatic master Giuseppe Verdi (1813-1901), in celebration of the 200th anniversary of his birth. Artistic Director Jason Tramm will lead the MidAtlantic Orchestra and Chorus with special guests the Seton Hall University Chorus.

All tickets are $25.00. Order tickets at 800-590-4064 or online at www.oceangrove.org. The Great Auditorium is located at Pilgrim and Ocean Pathways in Ocean Grove, NJ. All facilities are handicapped accessible. 10% of the concert proceeds will go to help restore the roof of the Great Auditorium, which was partially damaged by Super Storm Sandy.

The selections will be performed in chronological order of their composition and noted author, filmmaker and Verdi devotee August Ventura will speak about the composer during the performance. Many of the most famous arias, ensembles and choruses from Nabucco, Rigoletto, Un Ballo in Maschera, La Traviata, Il Trovatore, Otello, Aïda, and La Forza del Destino will be performed. The performance will be presented with an intermission and subtitles and images will create a multimedia experience. Many of the operatic greats of the past have performed in the 6,500 seat historic Great Auditorium, including Enrico Caruso, Marian Anderson, Lily Pons and many others.
