Last week, Juilliard's 289 (130 undergraduate and 159 graduate) actors, dancers, and musicians received their diplomas and learned who among them would be receiving Juilliard's graduation prizes -- a closely-held surprise and an additional highlight of each commencement.
Mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato, who has soared to the top of the industry as both a performer and a fierce arts advocate, is known for her impeccable technique and her joy of expression and her enthusiasm. DiDonato's next album, 'Stella di Napoli", coming this fall. It will focus on the birth of Bel Canto in Naples, and feature a variety of familiar and lesser-known composers, including Mercadante, Pacini, Carafa, Valentini, Rossini, Bellini, and Donizetti.
