Roberto De Biasio will sing the role of Pinkerton in Puccini's Madama Butterfly on February 17 and 25. These will be his first appearances in the role at the Met.

De Biasio made his Met debut as Gabriele Adorno in Verdi's Simon Boccanegra last season. The Italian tenor last sang Pinkerton in 2010 at the Teatro Verdi in Trieste, Italy. Later this season, he will make his Met role debut as the title character in Ernani, singing in the February 2, 6, and 10 performances.

Madama Butterfly opens December 5 in Anthony Minghella's critically acclaimed production. The February 17 and 25 performances are conducted by Plácido Domingo and Marco Armiliato, respectively. De Biasio stars opposite Patricia Racette as Cio-Cio-San, with Maria Zifchak as Suzuki; and Laurent Naouri (February 17) and Vladimir Chmelo (February 25) as Sharpless.
