The Riverside Opera Company 's(ROC) PoPera returns featuring award winning singers from recent ROC auditions with the Richmond County Orchestra, plus special guests from the Curtis High School Chorus and Brighton Heights Youth Ensemble.

Audience will be invited and encouraged to join in our drum circle. This event is made possible in part by an Encore Grant from Staten Island Arts with public funding from the New York State Council on the Arts.

ROC performs fully and semi-staged productions with full orchestra conducted by Maestro Alan Aurelia, who has conducted in Italy as well as in the U.S. Its singers are winners of open public auditions.

Joining a full orchestra are featured vocalists and performers:

· Lisa Bryce, baritone Robert Mobsby and soprano Teresa Castillo

· Brighton Heights Reformed Church Youth String Ensemble, Yvette Washington Wheatly Music Director

· Curtis High School Chorus, Josh Steinhardt Music Director

Performer Bios:

LISA BRYCE is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and Binghamton University. She has performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Symphony Space, National Opera Center, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, St.Patrick's Cathedral and Berlin Dome. Amongst the roles she has performed are: Mimi(La Boheme),Countess(Le Nozze di Figaro), Fiordiligi (Cosi fan Tutti),Micaela(Carmen), Giulliette(Les Contes d'Hoffmann), Gianetta(L'Elisir d'Amore),Suor Angelica(Suor Angelica),Annina(La Traviata),Dido(Dido&Aeneas), Mother(Amahl&the Night Visitors) and Mother(Hansel&Gretel). She is Prize winner of the Internationale Mediterraneo

Opera Competition, First Prize winner of the Five Towns Music and Art Foundation Voice Competition and Encouragement Award Winner of the Oratorio Society of New York. She has received Honorable Mention in the Second G.Gershwin International Music Competition and Acknowledgment of Recognition from the Art Song Preservation Society of New York.

Baritone ROBERT MOBSBY has appeared as an oratorio, concert, and opera soloist throughout the Eastern United States. He was a semi-finalist in the Chester Ludgin American Verdi Baritone Competition. Some representative performances include Vaughan Williams' Five Mystical Songs, Schubert's Mass in G, Mozart's Requiem and Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass with the Cornerstone Chorale; Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle, Fauré's Requiem and Beethoven's Mass in C with the Oratorio Society of New Jersey and Handel's Messiah and Brahms' Liebeslieder Walzer on the Grace Music Concert Series in Nyack, New York.

Teresa Castillo, soprano, spent the summer at the Merola Opera Program and sang the role of #1 in Conrad Susa's opera Transformations, where she was acclaimed for her "sweet and pure soprano". She recently won the Elaine Malbin Competition and a career grant from Career Bridges, both in New York City. In 2014, she won first place in the Classical Singer Competition at the Young Artist level, second place in the Denver Lyric Opera Guild Competition, and was featured in the "Who Inspires You?" article series in Classical Singer Magazine.
