American baritone Quinn Kelsey will sing the role of Giorgio Germont in the first three performances of La Traviata tonight, December 11 and December 16 & 19, replacing Ludovic Tézier who is ill. Tézier is expected to return to the role for the remaining performances.

Quinn Kelsey made his Met debut in 2008 in the role of Schaunard in Puccini's La Bohème. His other roles at the Met include Monterone in Rigoletto in 2011 and Marcello in La Bohème earlier this season. He has previously sung Giorgio Germont with the San Francisco Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and the Seoul Arts Center.

These performances of La Traviata, conducted by Marco Armiliato, also star Marina Rebeka as Violetta and Stephen Costello as Alfredo Germont, both in company role debuts.
