Three performances of Puccini's Il Trittico, March 16-18, at the Conant Performing Arts Center on the campus of Oglethorpe University, will close the 2011-2012 Capitol City Opera Company (CCOC) season.

Il Trittico is a collection of three gripping and beautiful one-act operas, Il Tabarro, Suor Angelica, and Gianni Schicchi, that address the question, "What would you do for your heart's desire?" It was first performed at New York's Metropolitan Opera in December 1918.

The first two operas are tragedies that follow the tales of two women dealing with personal heartache and loss. The last is a comedy-the death happens at the beginning of the story-that displays the hilarious consequences of greed and deception. Capitol City Opera last produced this comic farce in 2008.

All three operas will be sung in Italian with English subtitles at each performance. The cast includes: Il Tabarro: Michele - Christopher Connelly, Giorgetta - Perri Montané ; Suor Angelica: Angelica - Jayme Alilaw, Princess - Heather Witt; Gianni Schicchi: Gianni - Gerald Yarbray, Lauretta - Jennifer Zuiff, Rinuccio - Brendan Callahan-Fitzgerald.

"Our audience will experience every range of emotion through this production," said artistic director Michael Nutter. "Jealousy, rage, sorrow, regret, and despair, will ultimately resolve into the perfect ending on a lighter note with Gianni Schicchi, Puccini's only comedy that includes the beautiful and famous aria, 'O mio babbino caro.'"

The performances on Friday, March 16, and Saturday, March17, begin at 8 p.m. The matinee on Sunday, March 18 begins at 3:30 p.m. All performances will take place at the Conant Performing Arts Center on the campus of Oglethorpe University at 4484 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30319.

Tickets for all performances are $30 for adults, and $25 for seniors over 60, members of the U.S. Armed Forces with a valid ID, and students with valid ID. Visit  www.ccityopera.org or call 678-301-8013 for more information about the performances or to reserve tickets.

Capitol City Opera Company was formed in 1983 to provide classically trained Atlanta-area singers the opportunity to learn and perform complete opera roles and to continue to develop their post-graduate vocal and acting skills on a professional level. A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, CCOC also performs 150 to 200 shows for schoolchildren each year as part of its education outreach program. Partial funding for CCOC education programs is provided by the Fulton County Board of Commissioners under the guidance of the Fulton County Arts Council.
