Mozart's masterpiece Don Giovanni is joined by a heroic Gluck title, Iphigénie en Tauride. Both are sung in full costume, accompanied by ETO's chorus and 25-piece orchestra. This is the Olivier award-winning company's biggest tour: it travels to 21 cities, giving more than 105 performances, with over 80 people on tour. Check out a sneak peek below!

Anna Fleischle, who won the Evening Standard Theatre Award 2015 for Best Design for her work at the Royal Court Theatre, London, will create the designs for both productions.

First up is Mozart's epic dark comedy, Don Giovanni. Director Lloyd Wood (who assisted Jonathan Kent on Imelda Staunton's Gypsy) sets the piece in turn-of-the-century Vienna: a city of bustling creativity and the home of dangerous tensions which led to the First World War. The title role is sung by George von Bergen, making his ETO debut, and by Nicholas Lester (ETO's Eugene Onegin in 2012).

Don Giovanni is sung in English and is performed at 7.30pm on Friday 6 May.

Iphigénie en Tauride is a great thriller set in the aftermath of the Trojan war, where two siblings are at the Gods' mercy. One is supposed to kill the other - they do not know they are related. Characters are playing Gods, and Gods appear to act like children, in a heart-wrenching tale of bravery and sacrifice.

The role of the Goddess Diane will be played by a child from Kent - casting is in progress.

James Conway, ETO's General Director, said: "Gluck is one of the greatest of opera composers, and this is his masterpiece: pure, clear, heroic, heartfelt. I have wanted to stage Iphigénie for more than 20 years - and now we have the cast and conductor to do it with real excellence."

Iphigénie en Tauride is sung in French with surtitles and is performed at 7.30pm on Saturday 7 May.

Tickets for both performances are priced from £21.50 to £40 (concessions available; booking fee applies). To book, call the Box Office on 01227 787787, or go to marlowetheatre.com.
