Philip Webb will sing Manrico in Il Trovatore this evening, replacing Marcelo Álvarez, who is ill. Webb made his Met debut last Friday evening, singing the same role in Acts III and IV as a replacement for Álvarez.

Webb has previously sung the role of Manrico at the Madison Opera (Wisconsin) and Pacific Opera Victoria. Other roles in his repertoire include Rodolfo in Luisa Miller, Alvaro in La Forza del Destino, Radamès in Aida, and Calàf in Turandot.
