OperaDelaware today announced the appointment of Jason Hardy as the company's Director of Community Engagement, effective immediately.

Hardy joins OperaDelaware after working as a principal artist for nearly 50 opera companies. With a complimentary career as a business owner, consultant, lecturer, and educator, he brings a diverse and unique background in creative collaboration and executive responsibility. In his new role with OperaDelaware, Hardy will be responsible for donor relationships, corporate relations, and community education programming.

"I am thrilled to join OperaDelaware, and I look forward to sharing the story of this great company," Hardy said. "There are so many good opportunities to excite current audiences, inspire new opera lovers, and generate support. I'm eager to get started."

Acclaimed on the opera, concert, and recital stage, Hardy has enjoyed an 18-year performance career as a principal artist at companies and venues, including Carnegie Hall, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Kennedy Center, and the New York City Opera. Hardy appears on several recordings, was a regional finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, and Grand Prize-winner of the Florida Grand Opera Competition.

Hardy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Emory University, and a Master's degree and Artist Diploma in Music from the prestigious Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He also has studied business administration.

"Jason will have an immediate impact here at OperaDelaware,"said Brendan Cooke, OperaDelaware general director. "His knowledge of opera, coupled with his extensive network and his ability to articulate the importance of the arts in our community make him an exciting part of our future."
