Opera Orlando Announces 'Boheme Buildup' Events

Opera Orlando once again will hold a series of events to engage the Central Florida community in anticipation of each mainstage opera presentation. Bohème Buildup is a series of seven events, beginning on October 21. All events are free and open to the public except where noted.


Saturday, October 21, 8:25 p.m. and 10 p.m.: Immerse presented by the Creative City Project in downtown Orlando. Opera Orlando's Studio Artists will perform the quartet from Act III of La Bohème. Tickets to the day-long festival are available at immerse.city.

Saturday, October 28, 2 p.m.: Bohème Preview. Opera Orlando's Studio Singers invite you on a musical walk through Puccini's masterpiece. Timucua White House, 2000 S. Summerlin, Orlando. Free and open to the public.

Friday, November 3, 7 p.m.: The Three Baritones at Pilars. The Three Baritones-Gabriel Preisser, Nathan Stark, and brian james Myer-reunite to perform Marcello, Colline, and Schaunard respectively for Opera Orlando's La Bohème. Here they venture far off Puccini's score for operatic explorations and hijinks. Pilars Martini Bar, 146 W. Plant St., Winter Garden. Free and open to the public.

Tuesday, November 7, 11 a.m.: La Bohème: An Inside Look. La Bohème's conductor (Andrés Cladera), stage director (Robert Neu), and hair-and-makeup designer (Ron Wolek) share their visions for the opera and its unique setting-Paris during the Roaring '20s. Lunch is included. Tickets: $25 for Opera Orlando members; $30 for the public at www.operaorlando.org. Maison et Jardin 430 Wymore Rd., Altamonte Springs

Thursday, November 2, 7 p.m.: Open Rehearsal of La Bohème. A rare opportunity inside the creative process to see how stage director Robert Neu readies his cast for their upcoming performances. $20, available at www.operaorlando.org. Reservations required. Friday, November 10, 7:30 p.m.: Meet the Stars of La Bohème. The cast of the opera share their vocal talents in a program of arias, ensembles, and song. Tickets are $20 and are available at www.operaorlando.org. Timucua White House, 2000 S. Summerlin, Orlando

November 15, 17, and 18 at 6:45 p.m. and November 19 at 1:15 p.m.: Pre-performance Presentation. Conductor Andrés Cladera and stage director Robert Neu prepare the audience for the opera performance in the Alexis and Jim Pugh Theater (open to ticket holders only).

La Bohème will be performed November 15, 17, and 18 at 7:30 p.m. and November 19 at 2 p.m. in the Alexis and Jim Pugh Theater at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, 445 S. Magnolia Ave., Orlando.
