Opera Lancaster is thrilled to announce the appointment of Dr. Robert Bigley to the position of Opera Chorus Director! No stranger to the Lancaster arts community, Rob brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the position.

Rob serves as Director of Choral Activities at Lancaster Bible College and Executive Director of the Trust Performing Arts Center. Recently, the LBC Chamber Singers were featured in "Voices of Hope" at the Fulton Opera House where they shared the stage with several Metropolitan Opera stars. Dr. Bigley also recently arranged and conducted the LBC Chorale for an appearance on the Christmas album of the band August Burns Red. He seeks to bring a new level of innovation and excitement to the Opera Lancaster Chorus.

Previously, Rob was Professor of Music at Shoreline Community College in Seattle, WA and the Music Director of the Greater Miami Youth Symphony. Rob studied at the University of Washington (D.M.A.), the Eastman School of Music (M.Mus.), and the University of Miami (B.Mus.), where he served as conductor of the university's musical theater productions.

In addition to Dr. Bigley's appointment, Opera Lancaster also seeks members for its Opera Chorus. Auditions will be held Tuesday, February 17th. Audition information can be found at OperaLancaster.com.

ABOUT OPERA LANCASTER
Founded in 1952 as Lancaster Opera Workshop, Opera Lancaster has produced over 100 opera productions in the Lancaster community. It is one of the only companies in the Commonwealth - outside of Philadelphia - to present fully staged productions of operas and musical dramas.

The organization is made up of a professional staff, volunteers and performers who come from the local educational, business, and arts communities. Anyone who is interested in opera and in supporting the company is welcome to participate. In 2014, Opera Lancaster launched the Opera Tales: The Three Little Pigs Program, performing the music of Mozart in area grade-schools.

OperaLancaster provides development and career advancement opportunities for singers and musicians coming out of local schools and colleges, and local music professionals who want to maintain and hone their artistic skills. Two singers, John Darrenkamp and Robert Brubaker, performed with OperaLancaster and went on to have international singing careers with the Metropolitan Opera and other companies.
