Opera Ithaca presents Rossini's comic masterpiece, Cinderella, May 12th thru 14th at the Hangar Theatre marking the 200th anniversary of the premiere of the opera. Norm Johnson directs with choreography by Tucker Davis and featuring the dance ensemble of the Tucker Davis Dance Company. Opera Ithaca Music Director, Richard Montgomery, conducts the orchestra in a reduced orchestration by Magnus Gilljam from London's touring production with English Pocket Opera.
Cinderella stars Caitlin Mathes in the title role with Brandon Snook as Prince Ramiro, Lynn Craver and Dana Kinney as the stepsisters, Adelmo Guidarelli as stepfather Don Magnifico, Marc Webster as Alidoro, SeungHyeon Baek as Dandini and Paige Anderson as Cinderella's Mother. The chorus includes Benno Ressa, Mike Galvin, Kevin Harris, Christopher Hauser, Holden Turner, Patrick Starke, Drew Carr, Seamus Buxton, Joe Lupa and Lucas Hickman with the Dance Ensemble including Peter Garza, Niara Hardister, Ezgi Irmakkesen, Dharon Jones, Ayla Nghsh, Jeremiah Porter, Joshua Regan and Keara Soloway. The Cinderella orchestra includes Richard Montgomery on piano, Sarah Chandler on clarinet, Robbie Oldroyd on French Horn and Shade Zajac on cello.
Scenic design is by Marthe Hoffmann, lighting design by Evan Hawkins and hair and makeup design by NYC Mercedes Benz Fashion Week artist, Dorothy Petersen. Artists will be dressed in Eighteenth Century period costumes from the Metropolitan Opera.
On Saturday May 13th at 11am, Opera Ithaca presents Cinderella JR, in a new effort to bring opera to young audiences. Cinderella JR is an hour-long English-language version of the opera appropriate for ages 3 and up featuring Opera Ithaca Apprentice Artists Ariana Warren as Cinderella, Josi Petersen as the Fairy Godmother, Sarah Welden and Carli Mazich-Addice as the stepsisters and Benno Ressa as the Prince. Ellen Jackson directs.
Opera Ithaca's production of Cinderella plays the Hangar Theatre May 12th at 8pm and May 14th at 2pm with a special hour-long version for young audiences on May 13th at 11am. Tickets are $10-$30 for the mainstage show and $5 for Cinderella JR.

Opera Ithaca has presented Bluebeard's Castle, the professional premiere of Il Sogno, the world premiere of Billy Blythe, Don Giovanni, Die Fledermaus, Masquerade and dozens of concerts, community outreach and educational events. This season Opera Ithaca presented Mozart's Abduction from the Seraglio and Kamala Sankaram's Thumbprint. The 2017/2018 season includes Pagliacci, Song from the Uproar, The Pirates of Penzance and Carmen.
