Opera on the Edge performances are designed to provide an introduction to opera for those who have no experience with the art form or who may not be inclined to attend a traditional opera performance in a theatre.
In LA TRAVIATA, independent Violetta suffers from a terminal illness, but is striving to better her future when she falls desperately in love with the equally infatuated Alfredo, society's golden boy. But Alfredo's father rejects the match, insisting that Violetta will ruin Alfredo's reputation and the family name. Can their love survive? Sung in English and cast with emerging national artists and local performers, this modern and emotional production pushes the boundaries of opera and how it relates to our fast-paced world.
