As a part of the Downtown Denver Arts Festival, taking place Memorial Weekend at the Denver Performing Arts Complex, Opera Colorado will present performances by the Young Artists on Saturday and Sunday, May 24-25.
The Downtown Denver Arts Festival (DDAF) takes place every Memorial Weekend. Now in its 16th season, the DDAF maintains a strong commitment to showcase the best artists from throughout the state of Colorado, and also features a handful of popular national and international artists as well.
Throughout the day, the Young Artists will perform several short programs of favorites from opera repertoire and musical theatre, accompanied by pianist Taylor Baldwin.
Opera Colorado's Young Artists are emerging professional opera singers taking steps to transition from students to performing artists. Young Artists play a vital role as the voice and face of Opera Colorado in the community. They perform throughout the season in schools and community centers across the State. This performance is the last opportunity to hear this season's outstanding Young Artists before they leave their five-month residency with Opera Colorado. Following their residency with Opera Colorado, the Young Artists go on to pursue other career opportunities to further their advancement as performing artists.
