The Napa Valley Opera House has announced a spectacular array of 23 items to be auctioned off at its annual Gala on Sunday, September 19. This year there are several "pizzazzy" parties for party lovers - including one with Tyler Florence. For travelers, trips laced with adventure, luxury, cuisine, and culture are offered. To call them "tantalizing" is an understatement - Turkey, Cuba, Italy, Jackson Hole, Chicago, LA and a Lakers' game. Below is an overview of the lots currently up for bid. Please visit NVOH.org/gala for more detailed information. Individuals not attending the Gala can submit a proxy bid using the forms on the site. Questions can be directed to Mary Ann Moffitt at 707-603-2333 or maryann@nvoh.org.
Come all jazzed up for this annual Napa Valley Opera House fund-raising gala. In the shade of majestic oaks and redwoods, a lawn reception and outdoor concert with the legendary Ramsey Lewis Trio will be followed by a gourmet dinner in the historic Carriage House at Charles Krug Winery. Led by David Reynolds, the evening will conclude with a live auction that will offer twenty-five tantalizing travel lots and parties, including eight nights in Turkey, exploring Istanbul, and sailing the Turquoise Coast on a private gulet.
Pianist-composer Ramsey Lewis has been called "The Great Performer," an accolade reflecting a diverse talent and brilliant style in which his classical training and gospel roots are coupled with a love for jazz. Although he tours with more than 25 symphony orchestras in the U.S. and Canada, and performs internationally in concert and at festivals, the master pianist performs primarily at home and abroad with his eponymous trio, featuring Larry Gray on bass and Leon Joyce on drums.
NAPA VALLEY OPERA HOUSE: The Napa Valley Opera House (NVOH) is located in the heart of downtown Napa. A national historic landmark constructed in 1879, NVOH is celebrating its 130th anniversary in 2010. After many decades of hibernation, including thirty years' planning and restoration, the intimate second-floor 480-seat Margrit Biever Mondavi Theatre in the NVOH reopened in 2003. Patrons experience an eclectic array of performing arts: theatre, dance, comedy, jazz, blues, world music, and family programming in a world-class setting. As one of Napa Valley's leading cultural beacons, NVOH has advanced its leadership role through a broad range of outreach programs. These include the Community Access Program (CAP) that provides free tickets to underserved populations, performing artist workshops for primary-school-age children, and access to the NVOH for non-profit organizations on a pro bono or discounted basis. Memberships to the Opera House provide opportunities for advance ticketing to performances and special events (including exciting drop-in performers), exclusive discounts at local restaurants and hotels, drink tickets for the first-floor Café Theatre and much more. Please visit NVOH.org/membership for further information about becoming a member and supporting this important historic, non-profit theatre.
