Yusif Eyvazov will sing the role of Cavaradossi in the first four performances of the spring run of Puccini's Tosca, replacing Marcelo Álvarez. The final two performances are TBA.
Eyvazov, who previously sung the role of Cavaradossi at the Bolshoi in 2011, will perform the role with Met Music Director Designate Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the Philadelphia Orchestra for three concert performances this May. He made his Met debut in November 2015 singing Calàf in Puccini's Turandot and performed at the Met's 50th Anniversary Gala in May of last year. His recent performances include Macduff in Verdi's Macbeth at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden and the title role in Giordano's Andrea Chénier at La Scala.
Sir David McVicar's new staging of Tosca returns on April 21 for six performances, with Anna Netrebko in the title role, and Michael Volle and Željko Lucic sharing the role of Scarpia. Performances are April 21, 26, 30, May 4, 8, and 12 and conducted by Bertrand de Billy.
