Andrea Shin will sing the role of Roméo in tonight's performance of Gounod's Roméo et Juliette, replacing Charles Castronovo, who is ill.

Roméo et Juliette, the final production of the Met's 2017-18 season, is conducted by Plácido Domingo, with Ailyn Pérez as Juliette, Karine Deshayes as Stéphano, Joshua Hopkins as Mercutio, and Kwangchul Youn as Frère Laurent.

South Korean tenor Shin makes his Met debut as Roméo in tonight's performance. Recent performances include Duca di Mantova in Verdi's Rigoletto, Alfredo in Verdi's La Traviata, and Grigoriy in Mussorgsky's Boris Godunov at Korean National Opera; Rodolfo in Puccini's La Bohème at Theater und Orchester Heidelberg, and Cavaradossi in Puccini's Tosca at DomStufen-Festspiele. Next season, he will be seen as Calàf in Puccini's Turandot and Pinkerton in Puccini's Madama Butterfly at Opera Dortmund.

Upcoming performances of Bartlett Sher's production are on April 27; May 1, 5 (mat), 9, and 12 (mat).
