Gareth Morrell will replace Roberto Abbado as conductor for Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor at the Met on Tuesday, April 3 2018 at 7.30pm.
Gareth Morrell made his Met debut in 1999 leading Lucia di Lammermoor and most recently conducted three performances of Semiramide earlier this season. He has also conducted performances of Fidelio, Don Giovanni, Aida, La Bohème, and Tosca for the Met. He has been on the conducting staff at the Metropolitan Opera since 1996. Other engagements included Tristan und Isolde in Puerto Rico and Carmina Burana with the Taiwan National Symphony Orchestra.
The cast for Lucia di Lammermoor includes Olga Peretyatko-Mariotti in the title role, Vittorio Grigolo as Edgardo, Massimo Cavalletti as Enrico, and Vitalij Kowaljow as Raimondo.
Remaining performances of Lucia di Lammermoor are on April 7 (mat), 11, 14, 25, 28; May 2, 5, 10.
