Marin County's Golden Gate Opera presents "Spring Fling" Saturday May 19 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm featuring favorite selections from Bizet's Carmen, Puccini's La Boheme, Leoncavallo's I Pagliacci and Verdi's La Traviata performed live - an acclaimed Golden Gate Opera Living Room Arias Afternoon.
Opera singers performing are Victoria Sadow, soprano with Alex Boyer, tenor accompanied by concert pianist Jerry Kuderna. Tango Dancer Jasmine Worrell and her partner will demonstrate the Tango.
Described as alluring and passionate, Victoria Sadow performs with an exposed heart and youthful spirit that only magnifies the warmth and beauty of her voice. Sadow made her professional debut with Opera Southwest, covering the role of Amenaide in their 2016 production of Rossini's Tancredi.Her awards include First Place at the 2014 Classical Singer Regional Vocal Competition, among others. Tenor Alex Boyer is an Alumnus of the Merola Opera Program, the Santa Fe Opera Apprentice Program for Singers, and is a recipient of the Mario Lanza Scholarship Award. His recent engagements include Dallas Opera and San Francisco Opera. As a resident principal artist with Opera San José, he performed Manrico in Il trovatore, Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi, Canio in Pagliacci, the title role in Faust, Cavaradossi in Tosca, the title role in Idomeneo, and many others.
Accompaning the singers is concert pianist Jerry Kuderna, a solo recitalist and founding member of the Maybeck Trio. The California-based pianist has been presented by Group for Contemporary Music, The American Society of University Composers, The New Jersey Composer's Guild, The Los Angeles SCREAM Festival, Earplay and Cal Performances. Kuderna has premiered works by composers such as Milton Babbitt, Claudio Spies, John Selleck, Robert Helps, Ross Bauer, Daniel Brewbaker, Richard Swift, Edwin Dugger, Phillipe Manoury, Herb Bielwa, Ann Callaway and Kurt Erickson, many of whom have written especially for the pianist. Kuderna recorded Babbitt's Phonemena for Soprano and Piano (with Lynne Webber) for the New World Records historic anthology of American Music series.
Hosted by Tiburon's Cheryl Sorokin, guests will be treated to Champagne and wines with a Bar-B-Q catered by Forrest FiresBBQ and snacks from The Good Earth. Spectacular hilltop Tiburon Bay views while enjoying opera singers upclose and personal in comfortable living room setting create a unique event.
