Los Angeles Metropolitan Opera (LAMet) is a local community Opera Company presenting grand opera in intimate settings and at prices almost anyone can afford. LAMet will stage Giuseppe Verdi's thrilling UN BALLO IN MASCHERA on four dates: October 25-26, and November 1-2, 2014 in downtown Los Angeles and Santa Monica.

Artistic Director Linda Jackson has dedicated LAMet's new season to the works of Giuseppe Verdi, in celebration of his 200th birthday. The first offering, UN BALLO IN MASCHERA is a political and romantic masterpiece, inspired by the assassination of Sweden's King Gustav III in 1792. "What was so jarring to audiences in the early 1800's, the assassination of political leaders, has sadly become commonplace in our era. But the struggles for power, the passionate motives of conspiracy, and the lives that are destroyed in their wake are eternal things that Verdi has here transformed to art. Two centuries after its creation, UN BALLO IN MASCHERA retains its punch."

Abe Fabella is Music Director and Linda Jackson provides Stage Direction for this production. The singers include: Gabriel Reoyo-Pazos as Riccardo, Linda Jackson as Amelia (10/25 and 11/2), Elizabeth Harmetz as Amelia (10/26 and 11/1), Carlos Oliva as Renato, Yayra Sanchez as Oscar (10/25 and 11/2), Gretje Angell as Oscar (10/26 and 11/1), Rochelle Firestone as Ulrica (10/25 and 11/2), Teresa Hughes-Oliva as Ulrica (10/26 and 11/1), Jeong Sang Lyu as Tom, Timothy Little as Sam, Paul Junger as Silvano (10/26 and 11/2), Marcela Pan as Silvano (10/25 and 11/1), Paul Unger as the Magistrate, Kent Vitale as the Servant.
