LoftOpera returns to The Muse-Brooklyn's premier circus school-for eight staged concert performances of Pergolesi's Stabat Mater together with Vivaldi selections, replacing the previously announced June production of Monteverdi's L'Orfeo. Performances are on June 16, 17, 23, 24, and 30, and July 1, 7 and 8 at 8:00 p.m.
"The Muse has always been one of LoftOpera's favorite places to perform so we couldn't turn down an opportunity to have our show four consecutive weekends this summer!" said General Manager Brianna Maury. "This production will also be our longest performance run with the opportunity to reach the largest amount of audience members ever. A core component of creating a LoftOpera is matching specific repertoire with the right space, and given the expansiveness of L'Orfeo, we knew we had to seek other repertoire to best fit the intimacy and the character of The Muse."
The performances reunite director John de los Santos and music director and conductor Sean Kelly, who worked together at The Muse on last summer's production of Le Comte Ory, in addition to collaborating on LoftOpera's current production of Rossini's rarely done Otello with performances on March 16, 18, 20, 23, 25 and 27 at 8:00 p.m. at LightSpace Studios (1115 Flushing Avenue) in Bushwick.
General admission tickets with bench seating for LoftOpera productions are $30 and are available by visiting www.loftopera.com. Memberships and reserved seating options are also available.
