Jason Tramm, Artistic Director of the MidAtlantic Opera will lead an operatic concert entitled "Potions, Poisons and Passion's Prescriptions" Wednesday January 29th at Opera America's National Opera Center Recital Hall, to launch the 2014 season of New York's Arts and Sciences Salon.
Featured soloists will include noted soprano Christina Major, whose rendition of Sempre Libera in the MAO's 2013 production of Verdiana was hailed as "a fully realized performance...she displayed a thrilling command of its quick coloratura bursts, powerful high notes and a silvery tone."
Tramm, who serves as Assistant Professor and Director Of Choral Activities, Seton Hall University, will also include on the program Norwegian colleague and composer Oded Ben- Horin, Associate Professor at Stord Haugesund University College, Norway. Mr. Ben-Horin leads the European Union's six nation program, Write A Science Opera (WASO) and coordinates the EU's "Implementing Creative Strategies into Science Teaching (CREAT-IT.)" Mr. Ben-Horin will debut two of his compositions; he has been described by the French publication JazzHot as a "silky, warm baritone... who chisels out words with sensuality and perfect diction. His rare scat is clear, flowing, full of grace"
