LA TRAVIATA, currently playing at The Metropolitan Opera, will feature Hei-Kyung Hong as Violetta in this evening's performance, replacing Angela Gheorghiu, who is ill.

Hong last sang Violetta at the Met in 2007 and is scheduled to sing the role again on April 24 in the current run. She has performed a wide and varied repertoire at the Met, including Mimì in La Bohème, Liù in Turandot, Micaela in Carmen, the Celestial Voice in Don Carlo, and Eva in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. She made her Met debut in 1984 as Servilia in La Clemenza di Tito and has often performed roles in other Mozart operas, such as Barbarina, Susanna, and Countess Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Despina in Così fan tutte, Ilia in Idomeneo, and Pamina in Die Zauberflöte.

This evening's LA TRAVIATA is conducted by Yves Abel, and features James Valenti as Alfredo and Thomas Hampson as Giorgio Germont. LA TRAVIATA starts tonight, April 13, at 8 pm. The Metropolitan Opera is located at 10023 Lincoln Center, New York, NY. For more information, including tickets and a complete list of performances, visit www.metoperafamily.org/metopera
