dell'Arte Opera Ensemble of New York City celebrates its tenth anniversary with a 2013 season entitled "Smoldering in Rome": Monteverdi's L'incoronazione di Poppea, SV 308 (1642) with stage direction byVictoria Crutchfield, and Mozart's La clemenza di Tito, K. 621 (1791), directed by Walker Lewis with musical direction by dell'Arte's Artistic Director, Christopher Fecteau. dell'Arte's young artists are joined by Baroque/Classical chamber ensemble The Sebastians for L'incoronazione di Poppea, led by Jeffrey Grossman, lending rich authenticity to the performances.

"Smoldering in Rome," which features two operas that highlight the intrigue of the Roman court, follows an extremely successful 2012 all-French season for the company. Zachary Woolfe of The New York Timesdescribed dell'Arte's sold-out run of Dialogues of the Carmelites as "directed with eloquent simplicity by Victoria Crutchfield ... Christopher Fecteau, the company's artistic director, conducted a finely-paced performance."

Tickets are $30, available now at www.brownpapertickets.com, and at the door before each performance; seating is general admission. Performances are August 15, 17, 20, 21 and 23 at 8 PM andAugust 25 at 3 PM (for Poppea) and August 10, 14, 16, 22, 24 at 8 PM and August 11 and 18 at 3 PM (forClemenza) at the East 13th Street Theater, 13th Street between 3rd and 4th Avenues, Manhattan.
