City Lyric Opera has announced a shift in its company structure and an exciting lineup for its Spring 2024 programming. For seven seasons, City Lyric Opera has enchanted audiences with grand stage productions and intimate salon concerts. Now, the company is embarking on a new chapter that puts artists front and center, celebrating the individual artistry that makes the New York music scene thrive.
"We felt that this shift in programming came at an integral time not only for our organization but also for the arts community here in New York," shares Executive Director Megan Gillis. "CLO has always strived to put artists in the driver's seat of their own artistic and creative process. This new direction allows us to continue that mission while also allowing us to connect with a larger and more diverse audience base. I'm so excited by how much talent and creative energy there is in NYC and am so proud that CLO can become a home for innovation and creativity within the opera community."
Under the tagline "Where New Audiences Meet New Artists," City Lyric Opera's upcoming season platforms individual artists in a diverse array of innovative recital, concert, and immersive music performances in co-productions between the artist and CLO, providing each artist a platform for their own work while offering support through resources, funding, and expertise. The Spring 2024 season promises to showcase the exceptional talents of the singers who contribute to the city's musical tapestry.
