From the stirring Overture to the Toreador Song and Habanera, the music of Carmen is among the most widely recognized and beloved in all of opera. Bizet's captivating portrait of the seductive gypsy woman, Carmen, is conveyed through a score that is stunning, magnetic, and unforgettable.
A carefree and manipulative woman, Carmen woos the corporal Don Jose, an inexperienced soldier. Their relationship leads to his rejection of his former love, mutiny against his superior, and the ultimate, tragic climax of the story.
Center Stage Opera's fully-staged presentation of Carmen features the Center Stage Opera Orchestra, under the direction of Brian Onderdonk. The cast features Danielle Marcelle Bond and Kim Shahbazian as Carmen (dates to be announced), Rodell Rosell (6/6 & 14) and Gustavo Hernandez (6/7) as Don Jose, and an exceptional supporting cast, including Jennifer Lindsay, Madison Hatten, Holly Jamison, and Shannon Miller.
