The casts and creative teams for the daytime ShortWorks operas have been announced and details are now available on www.wexfordopera.com. The casts comprise of singers from all over the world, all of whom will perform in the evening operas as well.
The ShortWorks productions will be staged once again in Clayton Whites Hotel (formerly Whites of Wexford) with its newly configured audience seating plan. The three intimate productions include the farcical short opera, Il Campanello (The Night Bell) by Gaetano Donizetti, Riders to the Sea by Ralph Vaughan Williams, based on the Irish play by John Millington Synge, and The Bear by William Walton, after a vaudeville by Anton Chekov.
In a change to the creative team for the evening opera of Vanessa, Rodula Gaitanou will now direct the production with set and costume design by Cordelia Chisolm.
Approximately one hour in length, the ShortWorks operas allow audiences to enjoy an original short opera for €25.
