Bridge Drama return to Wexford Opera House on Thursday, February 17th through Saturday, February 19th and an additional show on Saturday, February 26th with a compelling love story, Dark of the Moon. In one of Bridge Drama's most ambitious productions to date, director Susan Somers will bring mountains, witches, conjur folk, banjos and even square dancing to the stage of the Jerome Hynes Theatre!

Written by HoWard Richardson and William Berney, and set in the Appalachian Mountains, the play tells the story of John, a witch boy who wants to become human after falling in love with a human girl. The superstitious townspeople resent their relationship and their constant meddling threatens the couple's happiness. This mythical and magical play, which once ran on Broadway for 10 months is based on the folk song The Ballad of Barbara Allen.

Curracloe man, Luke McKenna who has previously acted with Wexford Youth Theatre, plays the lead role of John, the witch boy. Mairead Ryan, who played Elvira in last year's production, Blithe Spirit, plays Barbara Allen. The cast of 20 are looking forward to performing in Wexford Opera House before heading off on the amateur drama circuit which will see Bridge Drama perform in festivals from West Cork to Castleblaney.

As the All Ireland Confined Finals are in Wexford Opera House in April, the group has decided to put on 4 nights in Wexford Opera House on February, 17th,18th,19th and February 26th. Tickets are €15 and are available online at www.wexfordoperahouse.ie or by calling the box office on 053 912 2144. No booking fee applies. Not suitable for children.
