Come and see America's favorite talk show host suffer the worst day of his career in the award-winning, smash-hit British musical, Jerry Springer: The Opera, January 10-26, 2014, at the Moore Theatre, co-produced by Balagan Theatre and Seattle Theatre Group.
Directed by Shawn Belyea, Gregory Award winner for Outstanding Director (August: Osage County) and Executive Producer of 14/48: The World's Quickest Theatre Festival, Jerry Springer: The Opera stars Sean Nelson, formerly of Seattle indie rock band Harvey Danger, as the Warm-up Host / Satan and well-known improvisational performer Brandon Felker (Theatresports, Blood Squad) as Jerry Springer.
Jerry Springer: The Opera channels all the mayhem and excitement of the lurid TV talk show that held worldwide television audiences in utter rapture - the perfect fodder for opera. When Jerry is accidentally shot on the set of his infamous, eponymous TV show, he descends into Hell, where Satan forces Jerry to do a special show featuring suspiciously familiar guests ... until God intervenes and demands that Jerry come to Heaven and help God judge humanity. Featuring songs like "Bigger Than Oprah Winfrey" and "Jerry Eleison" - plus a troupe of tap-dancing Ku Klux Klan members - it's no wonder Jerry Springer: The Opera is called a "shocking, irresistibly funny masterpiece" (London's The Sunday Times).
Performances are January 10-26, 2014, at the Moore Theatre in downtown Seattle. A preview performance will take place on January 9, 2014. Tickets are on sale now at stgpresents.org.
