Jade Esteban Estrada, who just completed an Australian run of his solo musical comedy, "ICONS: The Lesbian and Gay History of the World, Vol. 1" as part of the 2016 Fringe World Festival in Perth, has just joined Texas Light Opera (www.texaslightopera.org) as an artistic advisor, joining executive director Nicole Erwin, director Corina Zars, co-director Rebecca Gish Seres Trinidad, and creative associate Rebecca Greenstein (head of Opera Moderne in New York and Vienna).

His first role in this new capacity is co-director with Vaughn Taylor of "Make Me a Musical", which opens at Performing Arts San Antonio (PASA) on April first for a three week run.

The Estrella award-winning singer was born and raised San Antonio, Texas. As a singer, dancer, actor, and writer, he has performed in seven languages and in 41 countries to date and has shared the stage with Madonna, Margaret Cho, RuPaul and countless other stars. He studied dance (alongside Jennifer Lopez) with Slam, the lead dancer from Madonna's Blonde Ambition Tour, among other notable teachers of the era.

Estrada won a scholarship to the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York and later worked as a choreographer. After working as a lead dancer for Latin TV star Charo, he signed to Total Envision Records in 1998 releasing the hit single, "Reggae Twist," and toured extensively performing with top names in the Latin Music world. He's been seen in feature films, on Comedy Central's "The Graham Norton Effect," "In the Life on PBS," "Friday Night Lights" and "30 Rock" on NBC and has headlined concerts, theatres and comedy clubs around the world.

As the star emcee of "The Moonlight Show" at Prohibition Supperclub in Houston, Estrada has been an integral part of the recent international burlesque revival and has toured the globe (including headlining appearances in Vienna, Warsaw, Munich and Edinburgh) to impressive reviews.
