Austin Opera is bringing an evening filled with extraordinary classic and modern opera music to KLRU's legendary Studio 6A. "An Intimate Affair" features performances by David Miller, tenor of Simon Cowell's 26-time platinum selling 'pop opera' crossover group Il Divo, alongside his multi-talented wife Sarah Joy Miller, star of New York City Opera's critically-acclaimed "Anna Nicole," based on the life of Anna Nicole Smith.
The live show will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 13, 2015, in Studio 6A, the Austin landmark known for housing "Austin City Limits" from 1976-2010. KLRU is filming the evening's program and will broadcast it at a later date. A limited number of tickets to "An Intimate Affair" are available for purchase online, with individual tickets starting at $75.
"David Miller and Sarah Joy Miller have performed individually on stages throughout the world, and we think Studio 6A is the perfect setting to bring them together for a performance here in Austin," said Austin Opera General Director Joseph Specter.
"It is always so much fun when David and I have the chance to perform together," said Sarah Joy Miller. "And to be able to give back to a wonderful company like Austin Opera in the process only adds to that."
David Miller is the only American member of Il Divo, which was formed in 2004 by Simon Cowell as a multinational operatic pop vocal group. It is made up of four male singers who perform in Spanish, English, French, Italian and Latin. The group has toured with Barbara Streisand and collaborated with Leona Lewis, Toni Braxton and Kristin Chenoweth, among others.
"We are privileged that Austin Opera is bringing this musical experience to Studio 6A. "An Intimate Affair" is at the heart of what KLRU does best-sharing vibrant, thoughtful arts programming that engages and inspires the greater Austin community," said KLRU CEO Bill Stotesbery.
