The Pagliacci Project, the dynamic new partnership between Austin Lyric Opera (ALO) and the Butler Opera Center at the University of Texas (BOC) aimed at making opera more accessible to the greater Austin community, has added more dates to the already exciting list of free performances. These unique locations include live music venues and shopping centers, places not traditionally thought of when it comes to enjoying opera. Additional dates for The Pagliacci Project include:
Saturday, September 29 at 8:00 pm
The Rattle Inn
610 Nueces St, 78701
The Pagliacci Project features UT students performing an updated, English version of Act II from Leoncavallo’s, Pagliacci. The role of Canio will be performed by Jason Baldwin, a leading tenor at top opera houses throughout the United States. The Pagliacci Project not only allows the Butler Opera Center and Austin Lyric Opera to engage new audiences in Austin and the surrounding areas, it will also give UT students invaluable performing experience and the opportunity to learn from established artists. The project is a great way for opera fans – new and established – to get excited for ALO’s fully-staged production of Pagliacci at The Long Center for the Performing Arts in November of 2012.
