The Godot Company, London will present three short plays by Samuel Beckett, Rough for Theatre One, Play, and Not I in Wexford Opera House on Monday, February 14 at 8pm in the intimate Jerome Hynes Theatre. They first came to Wexford in 2009 with their critically acclaimed production of Endgame soon after the state-of-the-art venue opened.
The Godot Company is a company of actors who came together with John Calder - Beckett's principal publisher and actor,
Peter Marinker, - to perform accessible productions of some of the most significant plays of the twentieth century. John Calder was a friend of
Samuel Beckett, becoming the main publisher of his prose-texts in Britain after the success of Waiting for Godot on the London stage in 1955-56. He was also responsible for a Writer's festival and conference in Edinburgh in the 1950s, uniting writers from all over the world.
