BIO:
Nikki Yanofsky is an 18-year old musical prodigy who debuted at the 2006 Montreal International Jazz Festival, where she won the hearts of 100,000+ people in the audience. By 14, Nikki had performed and recorded with the New York Philharmonic, the National Symphony Orchestra, Will.i.am, Wyclef Jean and Herbie Hancock. In 2008 she released her GOLD selling, 2-Time Juno nominated debut – Ella... Of Thee I Swing – a live CD-DVD package recorded in Montreal.
In 2010, Nikki was a featured artist at the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games held in Vancouver performing in front of nearly half the world’s population at the opening and closing ceremonies. Subsequently, Nikki was also chosen to sing the Canadian Winter Olympic Anthem “I Believe”. This recording had the highest first-week sales of any Canadian artist in Soundscan history and was certified 4x-PLATINUM, making Nikki the youngest artist to ever achieve this sales level.
In 2010, Nikki was signed to Decca Records and released her first studio album, Nikki. The album debuted in Canada at #1 on the Jazz Chart, #6 on the Pop Chart and was certified GOLD in 3 countries. Nikki was the first artist since the inception of digital downloading to hold the #1 spots on the iTunes Canada Pop Singles, Jazz Albums & Jazz Singles Charts concurrently, with “I Believe”.
In the U.S, Nikki debuted at #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart (New Artist). Produced by 14-time Grammy Award-winner Phil Ramone and Grammy-winning songwriter Jesse Harris (Norah Jones), Nikki has since been certified Gold in Canada, France, Japan and is nearly Platinum in Canada. iTunes worldwide named Nikki as the Vocal Jazz Album of The Year in their annual rewind list. 2010 also saw the release of Nikki’s critically acclaimed second DVD, Live in Montreal. It has been certified GOLD in Canada.
Proving her versatility, Nikki has toured relentlessly in support of her debut studio album in venues ranging from arenas and festivals to clubs and theaters. In the fall of 2011 she toured France, which culminated in a sold-out show at the legendary Olympia Theatre. Just in the last year, she has toured and/or performed with artists such as Quincy Jones, Il Divo, Jason Mraz, Elton John, Herbie Hancock and Alfredo Rodriguez.
Throughout her career, Nikki has used her budding fame to help the underprivileged – becoming an ambassador for the Montreal Children’s Hospital, The Children's Wish Foundation and MusiCounts. Nikki also joined her fellow Canadian artists in recording K’Naan’s hit song “Wavin’ Flag” for Young Artists for Haiti. The local, national and international charity events that Nikki has been involved with to date have raised well over $10 million.
2012 finds Nikki Yanofsky spending time between Los Angeles and her hometown of Montreal putting the final touches on her second studio album.
